Talamanca Organic Farms - Tour #CBPV13
The Talamanca region is divided in two distinct zones.  The coastal lowlands and the mountain foothills
called the “High Talamanca”.  In the coastal lowlands you will find the Afro-Caribbean culture.
Traditionally, this culture produced cocoa and coconuts for exportation until the early 80’s when a fungus
destroyed the plantations putting farmers out of business. This area is now mainly supported by
tourism.  In the “High Talamanca”, you will find the indigenous Bribri culture that has supported itself for
centuries through sustainable agriculture.  The Bribri produce organic bananas, plantain, cocoa, araza,
guanabana, papaya, yuca and other tropical fruits and vegetables.  They produce not only for their local
population, but also in recent years the demand for these organic products has increased in Europe
and the United States.  Exportation of exotic organic products is now a substantial part of their economy
and helps to preserve the environmental quality of the area.

Full Day Jungle Adventure - Tour #CBTV26
We will pick you up at your hotel and drive you to our headquarters in Puerto Viejo.  Here you will meet
your guide who will explain the operation of your ATV and give you basic instructions on safety.  You then
will have a short practice session before starting your adventure.  We will start our adventure by driving
our ATVs about 40 minutes until we get to Carbon River.  Then we will leave the ATVs and start a hike in
the river surrounded by spectacular landscapes.  We will use canyoneering equipment in parts of the
hike and will take our time to swim in the natural pools.  We will leave the river and hike through the
primary forest to get to our next adventure-- tree climbing. Using a harness, we will climb 16 meters on
a tree to get to a platform where we will start the canopy tour.  We will enjoy lunch on one of the
platforms.  After lunch we will do one of the most adrenaline pumping experiences, the Tarzan swing 16
meters above the ground.  We will hike again through the forest to get to a beautiful waterfall where we
will do a rappel 20 meters down the waterfall and then make our way back to the ATVs to start our return
trip to Puerto Viejo.  This is an experience full of adrenaline rushes that you will definitely remember for
    the rest of your life.

Hike and Bird Watching at Chimuri Private Reserve - Tour #CBTV27
The Chimuri Private Reserve is approximately 20 hectares and is located next to the Kekoldi Indian
Reservation.  This reserve has a wide variety of tropical fruit trees, timber, tubers, breadfruit, peach palm
fruit and bananas.  The name “Chirmuri” is the Bri Bri name for 'ripe bananas.'  Another sector of the
property we walk through is a strictly protected primary and secondary forest.  A beautiful stream with
small waterfalls runs through this property.  There is a traditional indigenous rancho where Mauricio will
explain legends and stories about the Bri Bri tribe.  You will have the opportunity to taste different fruits in
season gathered directly from the tree.  There are still cocoa plantations under the canopy of the ancient
forest.  This is an ideal place to observe a variety of different birds in their natural habitat such as
toucans, parrots, hawks, tanagers, hummingbirds, honeycreepers, euphonias, icterids, warblers,
flycatchers, trogons, the black-chested jay, and the great white-wiskered puff bird, all endemic to the
southern side of the Caribbean coast.  Mauricio has counted about 400 species that he recognizes from
the distinctive whistles and customs of each species.  Mauricio is also a great resource on medicinal
plants and if this interests you he can include it in the hike.
Includes:  Transportation to and from your hotel, bi-lingual local guide.
Required Gear:  Hiking boots, long pants, insect repellent, binoculars, and bottled water
    Duration:  3.5 hours.  7:30 – 11:00am. approx.

Kekoldi Indian Reservation Hike - Tour #CBTV28
We will pick you up at your hotel and drive you in a microbus to the entrance of the Chimuri Private
Reservation where you will meet our local guide.  Then you will hike through the reservation until you get
to the Kekoldi Indian Reserve.  Our friendly guide will share from his vast knowledge of Bri Bri traditions,
daily life and mythology.  During this walk he will show you medicinal and wild edible plants and fruits
that are traditionally used by the indigenous.  You will also view materials used in the construction of
traditional huts: leaves used for the roofs, palm bark for walls and floors, wood and liana used for the
mooring and for the preparation of baskets. You may well see coati, armadillo, agouti paca, sloth, and
snakes, and in the canopy of the trees you may see cariblancos monkeys.  There is also an abundance
of birds such as toucans, aracaris, magpies, Tanagers, hummingbirds, parrots and hopefully some
guans.  You may also see poisonous toads, insects, and reptiles. When we get into the Indian Reserve
we will climb a tower on a 180 meter high hill. You will enjoy breathtaking views of Panama, the
Talamanca Mountains and the Caribbean Coast.  During the months of migration you can see
thousands of raptors and migratory zopilotes which have their main route through this sector.  After a
break we will take another route to our point of departure in the Chimuri private reservation.  If wanted, a
